Five names sent to Committee for LGA board

Malé, Maldives — President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sent the names of five members to be evaluated for the three positions open in the Local Government Authority (LGA) board to the Parliament’s Committee on Decentralization.

Letter of President Solih which consisted of the names of five people suggested for the LGA position was read at the parliamentary meeting today. The five names are:

  • Azha Zameer – M. Lileez
  • Aminath Ali – Apartment number 2874
  • Fathimath Niuma – G. Himaliyage
  • Fathimath Zeena Ali – H. Rising Sun
  • Aishath Sheeza Shazeebin – B. Kendhoo

LGA is a state institution established under the Decentralisation Act to regulate, oversee and develop the local governance system of Maldives as envisioned in the Constitution.

The institution consists of a total of nine members, out of which seats for only three members are currently unfilled; a member with experience in the gender equality field, a member with experience in governance or public administration field and a member from a civil association.
