Malé, Maldives – At a ceremony held on Tuesday morning at the President’s Office, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih appointed Hussain Niyazy as the Auditor General, in accordance with Article 210 of the constitution. Hussain Niyazy took the oath of office before Supreme Court Justice Uz. Mahaz Ali Zahir.
Hussain Niyazy is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), from the United Kingdom since 2008. He also holds a Bachelor of Commerce from University of Bangalore, India.
Hussain Niyazy filled several posts in the Auditor General’s Office including the post of Assistant Auditor General, Audit Manager and Assistant Auditor. Niyazy is currently a council member of the Maldives Institute of Chartered Accountants. He is the Chairperson of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives’ Admission and Licensing Committee, among other positions in the profession.
The Parliament of Maldives approved Niyazy for the role of Auditor General with a unanimous vote of 64 on July 8, 2021.
