Nasheed previously said that he can no longer work with the current government and have a political relationship with President solih if they are reluctant to pass the bill on amendments to criminalize hate crimes.
Nasheed released a statement saying that the bill on amendments to criminalize hate crimes was presented to prevent attacks due to religious differences in Maldives. He noted that the government should not allow for this to happen.
