President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lazy Fazna returned to Maldives from their unofficial visit to neighbouring Sri Lanka on Friday morning.
The pair departed for Eid Holidays on May 20.
Even though the visit was unofficial, President Solih paid a courtesy call to President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo, on July 22.
During the visit, both leaders spoke on the challenges that faced by their respective country due to the ongoing global pandemic COVID-19.
Moreover, according to President’s Office, they outlined steps being taken to ensure that facilities do not become overwhelmed, and emphasised prioritising vaccination for a sustainable recovery.
The President’s also reaffirmed their stance on the mutual commitment to furthering the relations between Maldives and Sri Lanka in the years to come.
