Malé, Maldives – Maldives National University (MNU) has stated that the educational institute will invest MVR 30.8 million in the establishment of the flight academy located in the southernmost Addu City.
Island Aviation (IAS) and Maldives National University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form a joint venture company to manage the flight school.
Referring to this, the Deputy Vice Chancellor of MNU Dr Mohamed Shareef stated that the national university is investing over USD 2 million to the flight school and expects the venture to turn profitable in 3 to 4 years.
A Czech flying academy has been brought on board for the venture through an open bid, with the Addu flying school expected to resume operations in December 2021.
The academy will train personnel for various fields in aviation in addition to pilot training programs. The first batch is expected to train 30 students while the following batches would enrol 80 students.
