Malé, Maldives – The Maldives Police Service on Sunday confirmed that they are investigating alleged illegal Covid-19 vaccine card sale from within Health Protection Agency (HPA).
Police have not released any further information on the ongoing investigation.
Covid-19 vaccine cards are issued in the Maldives by HPA and includes details such as the name of the vaccine, dose, name and signature of the vaccine administrator, vaccination centre, date and identification information of the recipient.
While there have been reports of fake vaccine card sales previously, the details of such operations remain unclear.
Maldives is currently administering the third, booster dose with 126,456 of the eligible population fully vaccinated with the booster.
There are 9 vaccination centres in the Greater Malé area and 185 in the atolls.
