USA – The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has granted a study tour to a delegation of executives from the Maldives Police Service (MPS).
During the tour, the Maldivian delegation learned more about the International Operations Division, Counterterrorism Division and Global Initiatives. The visit aimed to strengthen their relationships with U.S. law enforcement agencies and to share lessons learned regarding strategies to better investigate serious crime.
Held productive discussions on joint working in CT, information sharing, terrorist screening, capacity building in crime control and investigation strategies.
Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed
The Maldivian delegation visited the US from 27 February to 5 March 2022 and met with officials from the US Justice Department, FBI and Newyork City Police Department.
The delegation includes high profile police officials including the Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed. The visit was funded by the US Justice Department’s International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP).
The International Criminal Investigative Training Assistance Program (ICITAP) works with foreign governments to develop professional and transparent law enforcement institutions that protect human rights, combat corruption, and reduce the threat of transnational crime and terrorism. ICITAP provides international development assistance that supports both national security and foreign policy objectives.
