Addu City, Maldives – The first aircraft to be used in the pilot training programme at Maldivian Aviation Academy (MAA) has departed to Gan, Addu City.

The MAA announced that the aircraft departed from Malé port on Monday at 18:00 and that over the next few weeks, the aircraft would be assembled and prepared for flight.

The MAA is a joint venture formed between Maldives National University (MNU) and Maldivian Aero, in order to carry out pilot training programs in Addu.

The academy was opened on 28th January, 2021 and commenced its first refresher’s class in January with 37 students. The purpose of the refresher programme is to gauge the level of knowledge among the students considering the long break they had to take from training due the the cease of AAA operations where they were previously training with.

According to MAA, flying sessions will take place once the skill levels of all students have been determined.
