Malé, Maldives – The Minister of External Affairs of India Dr S. Jaishankar will make an Official Visit to Addu City, Maldives from 26-27 March 2022, at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Maldives Abdulla Shahid.
The visit will be of historic significance, as this will be the first time ever that the Maldives has hosted an official bilateral visit outside the capital city, Male’.
Dr S. Jaishankar is expected to arrive in the southernmost Addu City at 19:15. The Minister of External Affairs will also call on the President of the Maldives Ibrahim Mohamed Solih in Addu City.
The Minister of External Affairs will also participate in the inauguration ceremony of projects undertaken with the support of Indian grants, including the National College of Policing and Law Enforcement in Addu City.
During the visit, official talks would be held between both Ministers to review the progress on bilateral cooperation, following which several Memorandums of Understanding and Agreements will be exchanged.
This will be Minister Dr. Jaishankar’s third visit to the Maldives, since assuming office in May 2019.
