Malé, Maldives – Additional ten new resorts will open in the Maldives this year, announced Minister of Tourism Dr. Abdullah Mausoom today.
Speaking at the “Raajje Miadhu” program by PSM, the Minister said that with the addition of these resorts, the bed capacity of the country would escalate up to 3,500.
So far, two resorts have been opened in the country this year, and while the number of newly opened resorts in the country is on the rise, the fastest growing tourism area in the country is that of guest houses. Mausoom said that a significant number of tourists are expected to arrive in Maldives via guest houses.
The two resorts opened this year are the Oblue Experience Aailaafushi Resort branded as “Colours of Oblu” by the Atmosphere Hotels and Resort opened last week, and Alila Kothaifaru Maldives.
