Malé, Maldives – Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) are active at two locations in the capital city Malé; near Speaker Nasheed’s residence and the Chinese Embassy office in the Maldives.

Security forces have also sealed off a road leading to the Supreme Court of Maldives.

Reports suggest that the MNDF bomb disposal unit is active near Nasheed’s temporary secure residence, M. Muraidhooge.

Both police and MNDF is active in these locations.

Speaker Nasheed was a victim of a bomb blast in May 2021 while an individual threatened to attack the Chinese embassy later in the same year.

Update: Security forces called off the operation after investigating a suspicious object and concluding that it was not an explosive.
