Hulhumalé, Maldives – ‘Ahmed Kaamil Didi Primary School’ – the first school built by government in Hulhumalé phase two opened today.
The school named after the first Education Minister of Maldives, Ahmed Kaamil Didi was inaugurated by Vice President Faisal Naseem. Minister of Education Aishath Ali, MP for Hulhumalé constituency Ali Niyaz and officials of Housing Development Corporation also attended todays ceremony.
Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Faisal Naseem said that an educated generation can only be fostered when every individual embraces their role and responsibility in society.
Vice President said that parents send their children to school with high hopes and that the nation has high expectations for these students’ future. He noted the role of teachers, parents, and the government in facilitating the process of building an educated generation of youth. He said that these feats could only be achieved through collective effort rather than ad-hoc individual efforts.
Education Ministry had previously stated that grades from Lower Kindergarten (LKG) to sixth grade will be taught at the new school in Hulhumalé.
The school built near the Hiya flats in Hulhumalé phase two consists of 12 classrooms and employs 65 staffs. This includes 47 teaches, administrative staffs and others. The school opened today with 824 students.
