Indian spy suspects sent back without prosecuting

Malé, Maldives –  Two Indian nationals who were arrested from Velana International Airport over suspicion of spying inside the airport’s premises have been sent back to India without being prosecuted.

Local media have reported that the 26 and 41 year old Indians were released due to insufficient evidence against them to press charges.

The duo were released on September 8, 2022.

Police had taken them under arrest after they were discovered to have been using spy cameras inside the main airport of the country in late August. both were remanded for 10 days by the Criminal Court.
