Addu City, Maldives – Mayor of Addu City, Ali Nizar has revealed that Turkish company, Vizyon Villa will be brining its first model residential housing to Addu City this week.
Speaking to local media outlet ‘adduLIVE’, Mayor Nizar told the containers carrying the model units will be arriving in Addu City within this week and the units will be erected and made available for public viewing hopefully within the next two months.
Addu City Council signed an agreement with Vizyon Villa in January 2022 to build prefabricated residential housing units in empty lands which have been given to people for housing.
While Vizyon Villa is to build 1,000 to 2,000 units in Addu City, Mayor Nizar told that about four model units is expected to be constructed for public viewing.
I’m not sure how many units are coming in this shipment. But we’re expecting around four units to be built. The shipment is scheduled to arrive in the city tomorrow or this Friday.

Mayor Nizar also told that this would contribute to the solution for the city’s housing issue and would be a solution for people who have already gotten land for housing but have not been able to built a house due to financial challenges.
He also told that three room prefabricated houses are expected to be around 40 percent cheaper than conventionally built houses and the houses would be handed over to the owners within 20 days after construction.
In addition to this, council had also signed a framework agreement with Chinese company BUCNG to asses on the feasibility and avenues on launching a social housing project in Addu city.
