Addu City, Maldives – flydubai flights have been postponed until the end of June, flydubai‘s Maldivian General Sales Agent, Inner Maldives has announced.
In a press release, Inner Maldives said that flydubai flights have been postponed to June 24. The flights were previously scheduled to start on the 4th of next month. This will delay flights by 16 weeks.
Inner Maldives said the flights had to be postponed as tour operators needed time to promote the south of the country. The company will be participating in eight fairs during the 16 weeks.
Inner Maldives Managing Director Mohammed Firaq said the delay was at the request of the tour operators. Some resorts and guest houses have not yet sent domestic transfer agreements, he told.
Firaq said that although flydubai landed in Addu City, tourists are coming from the four southern atolls and that without these agreements, domestic connections cannot be provided.
According to Firaq, those who have already bought tickets will be able to go from Malé City. Those departing from Addu City will be offered a domestic flight along with two days in Dubai. Those who do not choose this option will be refunded in full.
Preperations for flydubai flights to Addu City were in full swing with Gan International Airport and other stakeholders. Travellers will be given connection to Fuvahmulah City and Huvadhoo Atoll. Huvadhoo connection will be provided by national airline Maldivian.
