The Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has appointed Judge Adam Mohammed as Chief Judge of the Criminal Court and Judge Nimal Junaidh as Chief Judge of the Civil Court.

The two posts remained vacant after the appointment of Ahmed Shakeel, the last Chief Judge of the Criminal Court, as a High Court judge and the retirement of Chief Judge of the Civil Court, Abdullah Ali.

The two judges were appointed in line with the recommendation of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) Advisory Committee after interviewing the candidates for the two posts.

The JSC did not disclose the number of candidates for the two posts. When the nomination for the post of Chief Judge of the Criminal Court was last opened, only one candidate contested.
