Jumuhooree Party’s leader MP Qasim Ibrahim has advised his supporters not to participate in the protest in opposition’s Chagos protest.

Opposition parties has organized a rally to protest Solih Administration’s decision in Chagos sea dispute. Their claim is this Administration has illegally ‘sold’ Maldivian sea to benefit their own personal agendas. PPM and PNC are leading this protest, planning to have a huge gathering near artificial beach on Friday at 8:30 pm.

Qasim has been with the Government coalition for the majority of this term. However, he has decided to part ways with President Solih to contest in the upcoming Presidential Elections.

While Qasim himself is against the Government’s decision in Chagos dispute, he does not wish his supporters to participate in chaos and see the inside of a jail cell. He referred to the “May Day Protest” which was held against former President Abdulla Yameen.

Qasim has said with the experts’ help, if there is any chance for Maldivians to claim back the “lost” area in Chagos, he is ready to aid for the cause. And he believes with proper work, that goal can be achieved.
