President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan of the Republic of Seychelles arrived in the Maldives on a state visit on Sunday afternoon.
The invitation for the visit was extended by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid welcomed the Seychellois First Couple and their delegation at Velana International Airport (VIA).
A ceremony will be held on Monday to officially greet the President and First Lady of Seychelles.
During the visit, President Ramkalawan will have a meeting with President Solih to discuss ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation.
The two leaders will also exchange several agreements and release a joint statement regarding the outcomes of their discussions.
The visit by President Ramkalawan to the Maldives underscores the strong relationship between the two countries.
It is expected that this visit will foster further collaboration between the Maldives and the Seychelles. Diplomatic relations between the two nations were established on July 1, 1980.
