Goal keeper Imran quits football

Former national football team goal keeper Imran Mohamed, one of the best goal keepers of the country has quit football, he announced via a Facebook post.

“I have decided to stop playing football. I believe this is the right time” he explained on the social media platform.

He said that he hopes to see more capable and young keepers from the country and that he wishes Maldivian football.

He also said that he appreciates the government’s recognition of his services to Maldivian football and that it was his supporters who were always there for him who are behind his success in the sport.

“Therefore, I thank all my supporters.” he said ending his post.

Imran started his football career professionally in 1999 and played for well known teams in the country such as Victory, New Radiant, VB Addu FC, Maziya as well as TC. His biggest achievement so far is winning the SAFF championship for the Maldives in 2008
