Judge Ali Rasheed’s residence vandalized

The apartment of Acting Chief Judge of Criminal Court, Ali Rasheed has been vandalized on early Tuesday.

Police reports that the incidence took place at approximately 5:30 in the morning and that the main door to the flat was damaged with an axe along with graffiti scribbled on the door.

While no arrests have been made with regards to the attack, the weapon used was found by police near the door. However, the police assure that necessary action has been taken and that investigations are ongoing.

Judge Ali Rasheed took office as Acting Chief Judge of Criminal Court followed by the suspension of Chief Judge of Criminal Court,  Ahmed Hailam who was presiding over the case of former president of Maldives, Abdulla Yameen Abdul Qayyoom, by the Judicial Service commission of Maldives (JSC).
