President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the “Go Green” campaign initiated by the Clean Maldives organization on Saturday.
The event took place in the phase two area of Hulhumale’ where the President planted a young coconut palm to kick off the initiative.
The president also introduced the environmentally friendly bag designed by the organisation, which the President of Clean Maldives Aishath Maleeha Zameel and Vice President Rauna Ali Shareef presented to the President.
Throughout the initiative, a total of 500 coconut palms and 500 sea lettuce plants are to be planted throughout Hulhumale’ phase 2. In addition to this, the organisation has also donated 500 palms and 500 sea lettuce plants to Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Another organisation, Benefit also donated 11 neem and 6 orchid plants.
Clean Maldives is an environmental organisation working towards protecting and creating awareness about the environment.
