Maldivian Police start using body camera

Police officers of Maldives Police Service who serve in the front lines have started wearing body cameras.

Commissioner of Maldives, Mohamed Hameed said in a tweet he sent out today that the officers are currently using the cameras on a trial and that the continuous use of the cameras would build a better relationship between the institution and the public as well as reduce the issues that come up regarding police misconduct and improper interaction with the public.

The commissioner highlighted that based on the results of the trial, officers would be permanently using the gadget  daily.
