President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has announced that the duty and processing fee on face masks and sanitizers would be exempted in the country.
Maldives Customs Service announced tonight that this would be implemented for the duration of the medical state of emergency declared in the Maldives following the positive cases of Covid-19 discovered.
While this exemption is to take place effective immediately, authorities are urging anyone with flu like symptoms or anyone taking care of a person who might be sick with flu to wear masks. Apart from this, it is also advised for everyone to wash or sanitize and maintain good self hygiene.
So far, 13 cases of Covid-19 have been confirmed in the Maldives and all are reported to be recovering well.
