Government of Maldives has announced that it will be extending the Medical State of Emergency in the country.
While the end date of the initial SoE was due by Saturday, Minister of Health, Abdullah Ameen extended the SoE until the 30th of April.
In a decree signed by the Minister, it said that the Medical State of Emergency issued on 12th of March is still in effect and that there is probable reason for the Director General of Public to believe that the risk of the virus spreading in the country is imminent, due to which special measures need to be taken to ensure the safety of the citizens and their health.
So far, 19 have tested positive for Covid-19 in the Maldives, out of which 13 have recovered and two have left the country, leaving 4 locals in recovery.
