Japan grants aid worth MVR 86.4 Million to Maldives

Male’, Maldives – Japan has granted aid worth MVR 86.4 million more to Maldives.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that an agreement to grant aid to procedure medical equipment worth MVR 86.4 Million was signed with Japan today.

The Ambassador of Japan, Yanai Keiko and Abdullah Shaheedh from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs signed the agreement today afternoon at a special event held in the office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs disclosed that they would be spending the money on upgrading the hospitals of different islands by getting:

  • 10 bedside x-ray machines
  • 65 bedside monitors
  • 19 portable ultrasound imaging systems
  • 200 automated external defibrillators
  • 160 syringe pumps

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs Abdullah Shaheedh thanked Japan for the selfless aid they have offered to help Maldives fight against ongoing Covid-19.

Japan has aided Maldives with MVR 5.6 Million through UNICEF and MVR 2.9 million through Red Cresent previously as well. Along with that they have also aided Maldives with MVR 2.5 million to help overcome the problems faced due to the Covid-19 and to help the small business of Maldives.
