Japan awards ¥ 110 Million as grant aid to the Maldives for HR Development Scholarships

The Government of Maldives and the Government of Japan has signed the Exchange of Notes to provide grant aid of 110 Million Japanese Yen (approximately USD 998,000) to the Maldives for the continuation of scholarships opportunities to be offered by the Government of Japan for the fiscal year 2022 under the Japanese Project for Human Resource Development (JDS).

The Minister of Foreign Affairs His Excellency Abdulla Shahid and Ambassador of Japan to the Maldives Her Excellency Keiko Yanai signed the Notes today at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The grant aid will be utilized to provide 6 scholarships to the Maldives again this year, a project which was implemented last year by the Government of Japan for further promoting the Human Resource Development in the Maldives. This is the second year that Japan has provided the Maldives with grant assistance pertaining to human resource development, with the initial agreement signed in 2020.

Officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Embassy of Japan and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) attended the ceremony.
