Male’, Maldives – Minister of Housing and Urban development of Maldives, Aminath Athifa has tendered her resignation from the post.
The minister who was appointed during the current coalition administration came as a nominee from the Maumoon Reform Movement (MRM) cited health issues as the reason for her resignation.
This comes at a time when a senior MP of the ruling party, MDP has sent a letter to the Parliament, requesting the removal of the minister from office, claiming her inability to fulfill the housing pledge of the government.
It is also noteworthy that this is the second minister to resign from their post during this administration, the first being the former Gender Minister Shidhatha Shareef, who represented Adhaalath Party. She is now succeeded by Aishath Didi, who was the former High Commissioner to India from the Maldives.
