COVID-19: No permit required to go out starting Monday

Male, Maldives – No permit will be required to go out in Male’ region, said Health Ministry of Maldives.

In a press conference held on Thursday night, Aminath Shaina Abdullah of Health Ministry revealed the ease of restrictions.

While this makes for a significant ease on going out compared to previous restrictions, the free pass is only from 5 am to 10 pm, with the prohibition of a congregation of more than three people while outside.

The ministry took the opportunity to advise against visiting family homes and revealed that the elderly would only be allowed to go out from 5 am to 8 am and that children would only be allowed from 4 pm until 6 pm. Exercising hours would be limited from 6 pm to 9pm.

The ministry has also opened shopping from 9 am to 9 pm with cafe’s and restaurants would be allowed delivery and takeaway until 11 pm.

Another big ease in the restrictions, was resuming inter-island travel in islands with no cases of Covid-19.

OPD, diagnostic and radiology services are also to resume in hospitals and private clinics, while flu clinics are to continue services until further notice.
