95% work completed in the new seaplane terminal

Male’, Maldives — The 95% work of the new seaplane terminal in Velana International Airport has been completed.

According to the Maldives Airport Company (MACL), 80% of  the docks under phase 1 has been completed. They also mentioned that the connection of fuel lines are in the process of being completed.

MACL stated that 90% of the interior work has also been completed. Along with this a total of 95% of the whole project has been completed.

The seaplane terminal is being built using the latest technology with a square foot of 78,000, that will be able to accommodate up to 55 planes simultaneously. While the dock area can be increased by time, it could potentially accommodate up to 100 plans in total. It is estimated that the terminal can provide service up to 7 million passengers per year. The terminal consists of 28 arrival counters, 50 departure counters along with, 10 gates and 10 screening machines.

Furthermore, the terminal has 19 resort lounges, 1,800 square meter VIP lounges and a special area for tourist receptions, made specially for the tourists.
