Bids open to lease new seaplanes terminal lounges

Male’, Maldives — The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) announced that bids are open to the public to lease lounge spaces from the new seaplane terminal at the main airport of Maldives, Velana International Airport (VIA).

MACL informed that anyone interested in leasing a lounge in the terminal must register in the bidding before 1300 hrs on December 10 and must also include a deposit of USD 10,000 (MVR 154,200) as the bid security for each lounge area.

MACL also noted that to participate in the bidding ceremony, all interest parties are required to be business entities with a license to operate a resort, seaplane or a tour.

Those who win the bid will be required to set up and operate executive lounges however they wish but in accordance with the  guidelines and instructions of MACL.

Costing approximately USD 55 million (MVR 848 million), the newly constructed seaplane terminal is built using the latest technology with a square foot of 78,000, that will be able to accommodate up to 55 planes simultaneously. 

While the terminal consists of 28 arrival counters, 50 departure counters along with, 10 gates and 10 screening machines, it also has 19 resort lounges, 1,800 square meter VIP lounges and a special area for tourist receptions, made specially for the tourists.
