Manchester City won an easily against Arsenal, after resuming the Premier League due to Covid-19.
Pep Guardiola’s side fought well against his former assistant, Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal in the first half. They could only score the opener in the last fighting minutes of the first half. City won the match 3-0, scoring two in the second.
It was David Luiz who was assigned all the blame for Arsenal’s defeat. The defender came on the 22nd minute of the game, after an injury forced Ganit Xhaka out of the game. Luiz was at fault in City’s opener as the experienced defender let a ball bounce off of him creating an open chance for Raheem Sterling to convert into the net easily.
Luiz gave a penalty in the opening five minutes of the second half, fouling Riyad Mahrez which resulted the referee to show him a straight red card. Kevin De Bruyne scored the second goal from the spot.
Weakened Arsenal side could do nothing but watch as Guardiola’s side dominated. Phil Phoden, the youngster scored City’s third goal in extra minutes of second half.
