England scores 6 past Iran in the opening game of group B in FIFA World Cup 2022 held in Qatar.

Gareth Southgate’s young squad took up Iranian national team, where the Englishmen dominated most parts of the game. Borussia Dortmund youngster Jude Bellingham opened the score line in the 35th minute of the game, scoring a fantastic header from a most promising cross by Luke Shaw. Bukayo Saka scored their second goal in the 43rd minute, a beauty of a volley from Harry Maguire’s pass. Shortly before the half time ended, Raheem Sterling scored the third goal for England from an assist from team captain Harry Kane.

Ending the first half with a comfortable lead, the English team came on to the second half with the same energy as they left the first. With little to no resistance from Iran, Saka scored his second goal of the night from a fantastic semi-solo effort which he cruised safely into the far corner with the help of a small deflection from the Iranian defense.

Southgate was satisfied enough with his starting 11, he decided to bring on more attacking players to extend their lead. But before he could bring on Marcus Rashford, Jack Grealish and Phil Foden, Iran pulled a goal back with a strong strike from Mehdi Taremi, where defender Harry Maguire picked an injury. Eric Dier came on for him.

Southgate’s substitutes did their boss proud, with Marcus Rashford scoring inside a minute of play from another brilliant assist from Kane. Callum Wilson came in for Harry Kane, shortly after. Wilson assisted England’s final goal of the night with a short pass inside the box for Jack Grealish to swoon into an open net.

Iran’s second goal of the game was scored by Taremi as well, in a penalty awarded in stoppage time of the second half.

Netherlands play against Senegal as the first game of Group C tonight, while USA plays against Wales later this night, 00:00 Maldives Time.
