Covid-19: Additional 21 cases and 16 recoveries.

Malé, Maldives — HPA confirmed additional 21 Covid-19 cases and 16 recoveries in Maldives.

HPA confirmed that, in the past 24 hours, an additional 21 confirmed cases of:

  • 12 Maldivians
  • 07 Bangladeshis
  • 01 Indian
  • 01 Nepalese

Counting these 21 cases, the total number of confirmed cases in Maldives is now at 2,238. Currently among these cases, there are only 396 active cases remaining in Maldives.

While the active cases have risen from 391 to 396 cases in 24 hours, HPA confirmed that 16 people have completely recovered from it the virus. Along with these recoveries, a total of 1,829 people have recovered from the virus in Maldives.

Up to date, 8 have passed away from Covid-19 in Maldives. The deceased are 4 Maldivian nationals and 4 Foreign Nationals.

While there are 318 people held in Isolation facilities, 140 are in quarantine facilities.

As Maldives eased the Covid-19 lock down, president Ibrahim Mohamed Solih stated that the authorities have decided to reopen the resorts boarders to continue tourism in the country on July 15.
