COVID-19: 9th death recorded in Maldives

Male’, Maldives – Another death has been recorded in the Maldives due to Covid-19, increasing the death toll of the country to 9.

In a tweet sent out by Health Protection Agency (HPA), the agency reported that a 43 year old male of Filipino nationality who was admitted in Dharumavantha Hospital has passed away from the virus.

Two more people are believed to be admitted in the DH11 facility of the hospital in critical care, however, no further details have been released.

At present, the number of positive cases of Covid-19 in Maldives is at 2337, with an impressive recovery rate of 1927.

As Maldives appears to be overcoming the virus, the State of Medical Emergency is expected to be lifted on the 14th of July and the country is set to open its borders on July 15, which would be followed by the opening of resorts on July 17th.
