K. Hura, Maldives — The outdoor volley court made in a joint effort by the Ministry of Youth of K. Hura, Sports and Community Empowerment, Hura Council and Hurriyya Sports Club has been completed.
While this is the first outdoor volley court built in Maldives by the ministry, nearly MVR 500,000 has been spent for the construction of this court. Rest of the funds needed for the construction was secured by the Hura Council and by Hurriyya Sports Club.
As volley is the second most popular sport in Maldives, minister Mahloof has taken the lead to encourage people to play volley more and has succeeded in completing various work in this regard already. He said that similar plans to build outdoor volley courts in different islands of Maldives are currently in process.
The work needed for the completion of the volley court was done by Hura Council while also making the outdoor volley court playable at night time as well.
Minister Mahloof thanked Hurriyya Sports Club, Hura Council and youth for their support in completing the outdoor volley court.
Moreover, as the volley events of the 11th edition of Indian Ocean Island Games (IOIG) -which Maldives won the bid to host for the year 2023- was said to be held in Vaavu Atoll by the minister, he mentioned that both indoor and outdoor volley courts will be made in Vaavu Atoll for the games.
