Male’, Maldives – Health Protection Agency (HPA) has announced that the 11th Covid-19 related death was announced mistakenly and that the patient died of other causes.
In a tweet sent out on on Thursday night, the agency declared that death of a 39 year old Indonesian male has been declared a “non Covid19 death” just hours after declaring the death as a Covid-19 death.

The primary cause of death is stage 4 cancer.

So far, 10 people have died of Covid-19 in the Maldives, which include four locals and six foreigners. All but one of the foreigners are Bangladeshi, while the other person is from the Philippines.
At present a total of 2,400 people have been infected with the virus in the country, however with an impressive recovery rate, which has seen 1،969 make a full recovery from the viral infection. There are only 416 active cases now.
