Boat sinks in Kaashidhoo sea

K. Kaashidhoo, Maldives – A boat named ” Fatholhu” has sunk in the Kaashidhoo sea today, reported Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF).

MNDF revealed that the boat traveling from K. Kaashidhoo to Dhonakulhi of sank in the Kaashidhoo sea, around nine miles off Kaashidhoo.

All five individuals traveling on the boat were initially missing, however, were later found by the effort of MNDF coastguard. All five are reportedly safe and doing well and are now being transported to Maafilaafushi. Those on board include four Maldivians and one Bangladeshi.

It is reported that the boat sank after it’s engine stopped, which resulted in the boat tilting on to one side and toppling over. However, MNDF say that they have not been able to locate the boat from the area in which the boat is claimed to have sunk in.

The incident was reported to MNDF around 12:29 today.
