13th Covid-19 death confirmed in Maldives.

Malé, Maldives — 13 people have passed away due to Covid-19 in Maldives.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) tweeted that a 70-year-old Maldivian female was taken to IGMH on 8th of June at 01:00 pm, was deceased on arrival to the hospital.

When tested, the deceased was tested positive for the virus Covid-19.

This is the 13th Covid-19-related death in Maldives.

Therefore, up to date, a total of 13 people have passed away due to Covid-19 in Maldives. They are 7 elderly Maldivians, 5 Bangladeshis and a Filipino.

While a total of 2,517 people have been confirmed for the virus in Maldives, 2,180 people have completely recovered from it. Currently there are only 319 active Covid-19 cases in Maldives.

Yesterday itself 16 people were confirmed for the virus in Maldives. They were 11 Maldivians, and 5 Bangladeshis.

The risk for severe illness from Covid-19 increases with age making older adults at highest risk.

A study has shown that, out of 10 Covid-19 related deaths in United States of America, 8 are reported to be adults from age 65 and above.
