President of Bolivia tests positive for Covid-19.

LA PAZ, Bolovia — Bolivias interim president, Jeanine Añez becomes the third Latin American leader to test positive for Covid-19.

Añez had announced on twitter that she is confirmed to be tested positive for the virus, however currently she is doing well and she stated that she will be working while in quarantine for 14 days.

“I have tested positive for Covid-19. I’m currently doing well, I feel strong. I will be working while in quarantine and together we will overcome this pandemic.” Añez tweeted.

Over the past few days at least four top Bolivian government officials had tested positive for the virus as well, including the Health Minister María Eidy Roca, Minister of the Presidency Yerko Núñez Negrette, Minister of Mines Jorge Fernando Oropeza, and the commander of the armed forces, Sergio Carlos Orellana.

The pandemics epicenter shifted to Latin America in late May and has ever since spread rapidly throughout the region. Brazil particularly has reported the highest number of cases with over 1.7 million confirmed cases and over 69,000 deaths, second to the United States of America.

The president of Bolovia is confirmed to be positive for the virus after two days of the Brazil president, Jair Bolsonaro was confirmed for the virus Covid-19.

Up to date, there has been 44,113 confirmed cases for Covid-19 in Bolovia. While 13,354 people have completely recovered from it, 1,638 people have passed away from the virus.
