Covid facilities in two islands inaugurated.

Malé, Maldives — The Covid management facilities has been opened in L. Gan regional hospital and in GA. Vilingili to treat for Covid-19.

On a virtual ceremony specially conducted for the inauguration of the facilities, The Economic Minister of Maldives, Fayyaz Ismail officially inauguated the facilities.

The facility opened in GA. Atoll is specialized and built to give services to everyone in Huvadhu Atoll as well. And the Gan facility has been built to provide services to citizens in M.F.D.T and L. Atoll.

The GA. Vilingili facility has specialized beds for 23 ICU beds, 6 Isolation beds and 14 beds for quarantine. 

In the Gan regional Covid-19 facility, while there are 20 beds specialized for ICU, there are 15 beds specialized for Isolation and 12 beds for quarantine.

A seprate laboratory has been made in the Gan hospital to test for Covid-19, along with a GeneXpert machine. The hospital said that they would be able to test 48 samples per day.

The manager of GA. Atoll hospital, Shareef Ahmed told that the GeneXpert machine to test for Covid is expected to arrive this month itself.

Along with two transit facilities, there are 7 places specialized to provide care for Covid-19 in the atoll.

Among these facilities, the covid management  facilities built in N. Funadhoo and B. Eydhafushi were officially opened on 16 July.
