904 tourists arrive in Maldives since borders opened

Male’, Maldives – Maldives Immigration has revealed that a total of 904 tourists have arrived in the Maldives since the borders of the country opened on 15th July, 2020.

The borders which opened up after more than three months, have kick-started the Maldivian tourism industry which came to a complete stop due to the global Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the data revealed by Immigration of Maldives, the country from which the highest number of tourists arrived in to the country is England, with a total of 117 tourists. On number two is America with 106 tourists and Germany holds the third position with 73 tourists. 45 tourists from both Switzerland and Russia have also traveled to the Maldives since the borders opened.

With Maldives reopening for the entire world, major airlines such as Qatar, Emirates and Etihad have also started operating to the Maldives.

Maldives is following strict guidelines in monitoring the health conditions of those arriving into the country, including temperature and symptom checks, which if found abnormal would subject the respective individual or group to testing.
