Male’, Maldives – Ministry of Higher Education of Maldives (MOHE) has revealed that more than MVR 340 million has been spent on the higher education sector of the country, since the year 2018.
In a tweet sent out by the official twitter handle of the ministry, it revealed that so far MVR 135.7 million has been spent on free degree programs, with 5،155 having have received this grant.
Further, MVR 205.2 million has been spent on student loans and scholarships, out of which 763 students received loans and 272 students received scholarships.
The ministry revealed that a total of MVR 341 million has been spent for the sector, stating that it is of utmost priority to the administration of this country that Maldivians are well educated, highlighting that this is the reason why a large portion of the country’s budget has been allocated for the sector.
