President to inaugurate national media campaign against Covid-19

Male, Maldives – The President of Maldives, Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the national media campaign against Covid-19 in the Maldives.

The campaign, which goes by “Covid Huttuvaanee Aharen” in the local language translates to “I will stop Covid-19” which hopefully inspires everyone to carry out their individual responsibilities in putting a stop to the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

The initiative was launched by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Tuesday night, in a special press conference held to mark the event, in which the Deputy Director General of Health Protection Agency (HPA), Maimoona Abubakr also took part in.

The campaign, which will be lead by a steering committee inclusive of media personnel, aims to broaden the coverage of Covid-19 related news in the country, as well as to give similar messages to the public with regards to the matter, through a united front by all media of the country.

Discussions regarding the campaign were initiated on the 26th of August, shortly after which the campaign was announced on the same day.
