President requests HEOC to be cautious of the spreading coronavirus in atolls

Male’, Maldives – President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Thursday, has asked the members of the Health Emergency Operation Center (HEOC) to be cautious of the increasing numbers of Covid-19 in the atolls.

In a meeting held at HEOC, during his visit to the facility, President Solih highlighted that although the number of cases is decreasing the capital, the virus has now spread to the atolls, where numbers are on the rise. Hence, he asked to pay special attention to the matter. He added that this is something the government prioritizes at present time as well.

During this visit, he also thanked all the Covid-19 response team, specially medical personnel, who have been working tirelessly despite the challenges that they are faced with.

The president also visited individual stations within the facility and met with the individuals working there, to gain better knowledge of the work that is being carried out as part of the response.

Apart from Male’, currently, the largest number of Covid-19 cases have been reported from Gdh. Hoadedhhoo, from which 36 cases have been recorded so far.
