Former president Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom recovers from Covid-19

Malé, Maldives — The former president of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has completely recovered from the Covid-19 virus.

The former president was discharged from the hospital on Monday after recovering Covid-19.

The 82-year-old was admitted to the DH11 facility in state-run Dharumavantha Hospital in the capital Malé city after he tested positive for the virus on August 26.

Fortunately after over two weeks since his hospitalization, a tweet from the former president informed that he had made a full recovery and that he had returned home.

Gayyoom is famously known for his presidency in the Maldives for a total of six terms through 1979 to 2008.
