Maamendhoo, Maldives – Maamendhoo Island Council of North Huvadhoo Atoll has published an announcement on the council’s official facebook page, seeking for a party to look after a homeless elderly man.
The announcement, which was posted in the late hours of Monday read that the council is seeking any one who is interested in looking after an 80 year old man of the island, along with the full name and address of the man, which “The Times of Addu” has decided to not publish concerning the privacy of personal information of a vulnerable individual.
The announcement urged anyone who is interested to look after the individual to inform the council prior to 11 am of 15th September, 2020.
While this is so, it is unclear why the man has not been taken into state care, and why such an announcement was made. The council and Gender Ministry was not available for an immediate comment.
