President sends condolences on deceased former MP

Malé, Maldives — President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sends condolences on former Parliamentarian Ismail Zakariyya, who passed away due to the Covid-19 virus.

Residing from R. Atoll, the former MP passed away due to the virus, two days ago at the age of 79. He was marked as the 33rd Covid-related death in the Maldives.

On the letter of condolences President Solih sent to the family of the ex-parliamentarian, he wrote that he shares the grievance of the family during this time and continued to convey sincere condolences to the family of the deceased.

Furthermore, the President noted in addition to Zakariyya’s term as a parliamentarian of R. Atoll, he also served as a long term public servant for the country. Zakariyya last worked at the Youth and Sports Ministry of Maldives.

The deceased was the father of former footballer Shah Ismail and the current spokesperson of MNDF Maj. Ibrahim Azim.
