Male’, Maldives – Additional 200 Bangladeshis living in the Maldives have been repatriated back to Bangladesh, on Thursday.

The group flew to Bangladesh on a flight operated by the national carrier of Maldives, Maldivian, which flew from Male’ to the capital of Bangladesh, Dhaka.

According to authorities, among those who traveled back to their home country today are some which were living in the Maldives without the necessary documents, and others who simply wished to go back to Bangladesh.

So far, more than 8000 undocumented expatriates are reported to have flown back to Bangladesh, from the Maldives.

Economic Minister Ismail Fayyaz has recently said that the aim of the government is to have 20,000 undocumented immigrants fly back to their countries by the end of this year.
