Gulhifalhu, Maldives – A fisherman who dove to catch bait fish has passed away.
The fisherman, who, according to local media is a 56 year old male from N. Maalhendhoo is reported to have passed away during the morning hours after diving to catch bait fish.
However, no official comment has been made by any relevant authority, including Maldivian National Defense Force (MNDF), which normally handles all incidents at sea under the Coast Guard department of the institution.
Over the years, many divers, especially fishermen have lost their lives while diving, due to which, authorities and experts have urged all those who partake in diving to undergo proper trainings and take all necessary safety precautions.
