Kaafu Atoll, Maldives —  Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has announced that Kandu Oiy Giri factory in Kaafu Atoll will restart processing fish in the island.

MIFCO stated that this decision was taken, in hopes of increasing the export of chilled Yellowfin Tuna and reef fish to meet the incumbent government’s target of expanding the Maldivian fisheries industry.

Furthermore, the state fisheries company highlighted that the factory built in Kaafu Atoll was licensed by the European Union for chilled fish processing.

Applications has been opened by the MIFCO for any private company that is interested in acquiring packaging services for Yellowfin Tuna and species of reef fish. The companies that are interested can find the application form on https://mifco.com.mv/download.

Several years ago, MIFCO had announced that the initial operation of weighing and packaging fishes will be halted in Kandu Oiy Giri Fish Village (KFV).
